Prenatal Information and Support
In our prenatal sessions we will go over any questions or concerns you have, preferred birth plans, the anatomy and physiology of birth, newborn care, pregnancy and postpartum self care and more. These are multi-hour sessions (remote or in person available) where you and your partner(s) are safe to ask those questions that seem ‘unimportant’ or ‘silly’ when you’re with your physicians. We can help you find and access local resources, prepare for the changes to your family and make some of the tough conversations a bit easier. We will also help your partner(s) to feel empowered to help you, just as we will make you feel empowered by the life you are creating.
You will have access to us throughout your pregnancy, in addition to our sessions, right up to labour and delivery. Got a weird feeling? Need an answer to your question? We’re here for you.
Continuous Care in Labour
We are ready to be at your side, as soon as you decide you need us. We will meet you wherever you will be giving birth, and provide constant care until the first hours after baby is born. We will help create a space where you can ask questions and feel you are heard. You will be supported through any decisions you may make, or changes and alterations to the plan, while we help you cope with the pain and emotions of labour. We are there to make you our top priority, and believe that your health and wellbeing throughout labour increases your chances for a successful and satisfying delivery.
Studies have shown that the continuous support given by doulas during labour can significantly affect the outcomes of delivery. Babies have better birthweight outcomes, and instances of caesarean and instrument assisted births are significantly lowered when accompanied by a trained doula.
